Robert Craig, Sensei
I have trained in martial arts for more than 15 years but started Jitsu four years ago in order to broaden my martial arts repertoire. One of the reasons I chose to learn jujitsu is because I used to work as a Special Constable for the Metropolitan Police and many of the more basic jiujitsu techniques I learnt in Jitsu overlap a great deal with the officer safety training self defence techniques taught by the police. I particularly like the stress testing of all techniques in Jitsu so that my responses to particular attacks are almost automatic, which gives me confidence about applying them for real.
I was delighted to be awarded "Best Newcomer" at the annual Jitsu Ball in July 2010. This award is granted to the most promising new instructor in the Jitsu Foundation for the year and I would like to take this opportunity to thank my own instructor for all his support and encouragement as well as my students for all the hard work they put in this year without which I would not have been honoured with this award.
